What is your area of interest? Social care, counselling, nursing, paramedics? Interpersonal communication is essential to all of these areas ; for example, a nurse who cannot communicate with people cannot provide safe and effective care. Once you have decided on your area of interest you should identify a particular focus within this area. For example if you are interested in adult nursing you might want to consider the importance of communication to nursing in palliative care or accident and emergency nursing. If you are interested in social work you might want to consider the role of communication in child safeguarding.
