Essay – Jerry Falwell and the Rise of the Religious Right Pick one of the following questions and write an essay of 1,300-1,500 words on the subject, with a well-crafted thesis defended with evidence and analysis in the body. Write an essay assessing Jerry Falwell’s impact, along with that of the Religious Right more generally, on American culture and politics. What tactics did conservative Christians such as Falwell employ to shape American politics and culture? What were their strategies for mass organizing? What issues and events drove Falwell and other conservative Christians to new forms of political activism in the second half of the twentieth century? Did any issues receive more attention or motivate evangelicals more than others? Important note on use of evidence: This essay needs to come primarily from the primary source material (the documents) in the book. This means your paper should avoid the use of material from the Preface and the Introduction, as well as the background and introductions to the sources in the book.
