Instructions: Discuss some aspect Kindred. For example, you can examine gender, adaptation, kinship or the role of heritage in identity. You can also look at symbolism in the novel or character development. You can examine the first person perspective and how it influences reader response. The essay should be approximately 10-12 pages long, 12-point font (no bigger), double-spaced. The margins are 2.5 cm or 1 inch on four sides. Do not use justification and use the no paragraph style (second option in Word). It will not automatically skip an extra line when you hit return. For the bibliography, you should have at least 3 secondary sources. The articles or book chapters should be more than 3 pages in length. If you use material from the back of your short story text, you should look up the original work and read the whole chapter if the length of the article is less that 3 pages.
