You have read articles that present different perspectives on this topic. What questions do they raise? Is there one article that you think presents a viewpoint more valid than that of other articles? More controversial? Suggestions to consider are listed below. Your instructor may suggest others. 1. Sometimes we hear admonitions to “Be a man!” or “Act like a lady!” Describe the behaviors one of those statements seems to demand. 2. The readings for this module examine gender roles for both men and women. If you are a female student, write about the difficulties placed on men by American society’s expectations. If you are a male student, write about the difficulties placed on women by American society’s expectations. 3. Analyze a photo, painting, or advertisement for its commentary on men or women or both. If the image you are analyzing is not one from our course text, provide a copy to your instructor. 4. Pick one of the discussion board topics for this module and expand your discussion into an essay. Requirements • Length: 750 words.
