June 22, 2020Pick an article from the New York Times in your NYTimes app about Texas that appeared during the course of this class. Provide a full bibliographic citation and summarize it. You must pick an article that appeared at any time during this class but you need to complete this assignment during the last week of class since you need to integrate concepts from this class into your analysis. Do not wait until the last day to pick an article. That will not give you enough time to think about which class concepts are relevant and how. I have had classes where all the students wrote about an article that appeared on the day the assignment is due. With the app you have a lot of tools to find relevant articles. After you summarize it, devote an additional paragraph to answer the following: How does the article portray Texas? How does the article agree or disagree with what you have learned in this class? Then you must devote an additional 2 paragraphs to analyse the article in the context of 3 class concepts. The key word in this assignment is analysis. You need to analyze the article and tie it back to specific concepts that you learned in the class. Concepts such as federalism, separation of powers, branches of government, different public policies, and literally dozens more may be relevant to any article you read. The paper should be at least 2 pages long and include the full bibliographic citation of the article. You must discuss at least 3 concepts from the class and put those concepts in Bold. Please make sure the concepts are “Texas Government” concepts.
