June 22, 2020For this assignment, students will select a client from his/her field practicum placement. The student will conduct a comprehensive case evaluation that draws upon the skills and knowledge the student has acquired, thus far, over the course of his/her MSW studies. The assignment will include the following: Background: • Use a pseudonym for client’s name(i.e. Eva Melendez)-17 year old Hispanic female who is undocumented and has been in the US since age 3. • Provide an overview of the client’s history. • Use a basic biopsychosocial-spiritual format to briefly describe the client’s biological, psychological, social, and spiritual background. Presenting Problem: • Describe the client’s presenting problem and the reason the client is receiving services from the practicum placement setting. • Explain the client’s current plan of action or specific treatment plan that has been developed to address his/her concerns. Culture: • Identify specific aspects of cultural diversity that is unique to the client’s case and has influenced and shaped the client’s life-experience. Ethics: • Cite one ethical principle in the NASW Code of Ethics that applies to the client’s case. • Describe why this ethical principle is relevant to the client’s situation and how is it being addressed (or not) by the field practicum placement setting. Role(s) of the Social Worker: • Identify the role you (as the social work intern) played in addressing the client’s concerns. • Describe how you (as the social work intern) advocated for human rights and addressed the social and economic justice issues in relation to the client’s case. Levels of Social Work Practice: • Describe the micro (individualized level), mezzo (broader community support level), and macro (social policy level) aspects of the social work practice that applies to the client’s case – particularly with respect to socioeconomic factors and local or regional political dynamics that influence (positive or negative) outcomes for the client. Theoretical Framework: • Apply Systems Theory, the Ecological Perspective, or a theoretical model of the student’s choice (e.g., Resilience Theory, Psychodynamic Model, Feminist Theory, etc.) to the client’s case. • Explain how the use of this theoretical framework helped to inform and direct you (as the social work intern’s) direct approach to providing services or intervening on behalf of the client. Evidence-Based Practice: • Identify one evidence-based practice strategy that is applicable to the client’s situation. • Describe how it could be implemented and evaluated on the client’s behalf. Conclusion: • Summarize (you as the social work intern’s) subjective thoughts, feelings, observations, suggestions, hopes, and fears for the client’s future.
