June 23, 2020Your first task for this week is to write a short essay. You will argue that the speed limit on U.S. highways should be raised to 80mph. In your short essay, you’ll deliberately commit three fallacies, of your choosing. Here are the specifics: (1) Your essay should be about 250 – 300 words (one page). Write in clear, grammatically correct sentences of standard written English. Have an introductory sentence, stating the position you’re arguing for (see above), and then proceed to make your case. Your case can include factual information, real world examples, whatever you want. The only requirements, beyond good, grammatically correct writing, is that you include three fallacious arguments. One of your fallacies will be a formal fallacy and two must be informal fallacies. You choose which fallacy.
