What business structure would you choose and why?

June 24, 2020Quantitative and Qualitative Research Methodology You have studied the importance of ensuring alignment among the research problem, purpose, and research questions/hypotheses. The next step is selecting a research method and design to address the problem, achieve the purpose, and generate answers to the research questions. While quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods may be appropriate for addressing a wide range of problems, your research method and design must align with your specific problem and research questions. For example, quantitative research for an experimental or quasi-experimental study involves examining the impact or effect of one or more independent variables on one or more dependent variables. An appropriate (and aligned) research question might be: “What is the impact of participation in a Transformational Leadership training class on managers’ transformational leadership behavior?” Correlational studies involve examining the relationships among variables. An appropriate (and aligned) research question might be: “What is the relationship between employee job satisfaction and turnover?” In contrast, qualitative studies involve exploring a phenomenon to gain perspective and insight. An appropriate (and aligned) research question might be: “What are nurses’ perceptions about the high turnover rate in the intensive care unit?” Research course textbooks are excellent sources for learning about different research methods and designs. To develop a deep understanding, however, you must read beyond basic texts. The Recommended Reading section contains an array of sources, but this list is not exhaustive. Once you determine an appropriate research method and design, begin searching for major and foundational sources and authors to develop the level of expertise required to implement a methodologically rigorous study. You will find these major and foundational sources indispensable as you develop your study over the subsequent weeks of this class and in later dissertation classes. Required Text Heitner, K. Why did you select this method? Justify your selection. Discussion 2 ________________________________________ Reflective Discussion Many doctoral students are not entirely certain of the research method and design that best align with their studies. Think about what you have learned about quantitative and qualitative research, and answer the following questions: • What were the highlights of your learning; that is, things that you feel will help you choose an aligned research method? • What additional support might you need in aligning your method with the other elements of your study? (I think my method will be qualitative)
