The Aug. 18-21 2017 poll found that 54 percent of adults said Confederate monuments “should remain in all public spaces” while 27 percent said they “should be removed from all public spaces.” Another 19 percent said they “don’t know.” In addition, 48% of the population said that the Civil War was “mainly about state’s rights” while 38% said it was “mainly about slavery” After reading Texas’s Declaration of Secession, do you think the civil war was about slavery or states rights and should we remove statues honoring Confederate leaders in our public spaces?
