July 1, 2020This document relates to stage “c)”, the report Present your findings in the form of a formal research report. Some sections of your report may contain work you completed at other stages of this course. Your report must include all the following sections: Introduction (20 marks) • Establish context and rationale for your research. • Explain any background ideas/prior research on this topic. • Discuss any tools and methods available for researching this issue particularly the ones you are going to use. • Provide a research question / problem. Note: For your introduction section, you are expected to make links to relevant scholarly literature – you must, therefore, provide in-text references. Methodology (10 marks) • Outline the methods you used (how did you collect data? When? From who?). • Give some idea of the types of questions you used • Outline how you analysed your data Note – you must write the method in third person past tense and in paragraphs. Include sufficient detail for a reader to know exactly how your experiment was conducted. Results and Discussion (30 marks) • Present and discuss your key findings • What does your data reveal about your research question or problem? • Discuss any connections and conclusions that can be drawn. • Discuss your findings in relation to other research. • Limitations/extensions/applications. • Evaluate the experimental design and identify any limitations to your methodology. • Propose any suitable extensions or follow-up studies to your experiment. • Discuss applications of your study. Conclusion Summarise your main findings and link back to the hypothesis and aim References (10 marks). Provide a reference list as well as in-text references where appropriate.
