nBorder Control
nUnited States border control is a crucial exercise that ensures that illegal weapons, drugs and terrorists do not enter into the country while welcoming business persons and legitimate travellers. The U.S Custom and Border Protection (CBP) officers enforce all U.S laws such as narcotic smuggling, illegal immigration and illegal importation (Gaines, 5). In addition the Agriculture specialists are deployed in the ports of entry to protect the country against introduction of disease and pests from overseas country (Warner, 17). The U.S Border Patrols uses strategic plan of gathering and integration of information as well as rapid response to secure to countrys borders against all sources of illegal entries.
nThe Border Patrols protects the country based on the current intelligence and threats.
nFor effective border control mission, the Border patrols conduct intelligence-based operations that try to identify and understand the terrorists before they enter through the borders. The border protection agencies develop timely, well-designed and implementable intelligence in order to prevent and intercept the border threat (Warner, 39). This occurs through information sharing and continuous support of border patrol intelligence as well as CBP office. Besides, through coordination of operations with foreign law enforcers and assisting international partners it increases the efficiency of the operations (Gaines, 10). Therefore, terrorist can be interdicted before they reach the Nations borders through gathering and analysing information and intelligence.
nIn addition, the International Liaison Unit plays a critical role in fostering local partnership, mutual understanding and trust between border patrols and other governments (Warner, 56). This ensures that national borders are safe and secure as well as developing border cooperation. The Border patrols enhance the Nations border security through the use of modern technology, personnel and infrastructure (Stana, 98). This ensures that the agency is able to adapt to the emerging threats along the border by predicting and rapidly responding to any changes that risk the security of the border.
nThe Integrated Mission Analysis (IMA) utilises the comprehensive and systematic approaches to track, assess and predict vulnerabilities, capabilities and consequences of Custom and Border Protection and integrate these with potential threats (Gaines, 20). This ensures that operational and threat-condition assessments are integrated through the risk-based approach (Stana, 26). Therefore, the security warnings, threat indicators and operational statistics are harnessed. In addition, the operational gaps, vulnerabilities, critical threats and risks are identified through the IMA process.
nThe Mobile Border Patrol is also a useful approach that responds appropriately to the changing threats. In high risk borders the mobile border patrol have the capabilities to deploy the officers rapidly to maintain the highest possible state of security (Warner, 49). Moreover, the Mobile Response Teams respond to the intelligence reports to counter the emerging and evolving threats along the Nations borders. It also has capabilities to use various techniques to gather intelligence and information in low-threat areas (Stana, 13). Moreover, through the use of technology, the Border patrol is capable to identify, detect, monitor and respond to border threats in the country. For instance, it applies technology such as Mobile Video Surveillance, Remote Video Surveillance and Integrated Fixed Towers.
nThe Transnational Criminal Organisation controls the illegal guns, trafficking of narcotics and controlling human trafficking through the Nations borders (Stana, 9). It operates to identify the origin and degree of the threats and initiate strategies to degrade and disrupt their operations. It also collaborates with CBP with a common focus of degrading and disrupting the transnational criminal activities.
