Satire is still just as relevant in our contemporary culture as it was during Swift’s and Pope’s days. In the spirit of Swift and Pope, write your own satirical response to some contemporary issue or trend in American culture–approximately 500 (about 2 pages, double spaced with standard margins & 12 pt. font size). Your response can be in any form–essay, fictional account, even poetic form, but somehow identify the topic in your title. Remember that satire hinges often on exaggeration or understatement and contains irony.
