June 7, 2020Purpose: Students build this paper from the outline of the final paper proposal (and the feedback provided to them on the proposal). This submission is a critical essay that demonstrates engagement + comprehension of the course resources. The final submission will: Explain at least 4 key legal philosophies/ideas (60% of the body of your paper, approximately) Connect these ideas a single concrete example or case (25% or less of the body of your paper, approximately) Address the socio-political economy/cultural context in which these legal problems emerge (10% of the body of your paper, approximately) Explain how these theories, or this case, is important for understanding contemporary legislative and/or criminological concerns in Canada (5% of the body of your paper). Page Limit: 6 page Tips on composition: Think quality of discussion over quantity of concepts (no ‘concept dropping’ please). Please see sample APA Critical Essay for tips on formatting and the importance of paragraph structure to your critical essay compositions. It is expected that this submission will incorporate feedback provided to you in previous submissions (particularly in relation to clarity, grammar and organization of ideas). You must be selective in composing your essay; do not attempt to provide a survey of all the philosophers and historical legal cases you have read about in the course materials. No more than 25% of your submission should be devoted to your case/example You are expected to synthesize references: reference at least four (4) of the required readings/resources from the semester. These resources include documentaries, guest speaker, textbook, as well as the articles which are mentioned in the attached files. An ‘A’ paper will incorporate and synthesize ALL of our required resources.
