nCurrently, households and other areas of residence lead to carbon dioxide emissions and other greenhouse gases. Therefore, it affects human health and sustainability of natural resources in the UK. Therefore, Eco house or sustainable house is required because it delivers possible benefits, which can contribute to eliminating worldwide issue (Charlesworth and Ahmed 2015, p.13). An eco-house should be environmentally healthy, energy efficient, facilitate protection of natural resources, and provides pleasant family life. In so doing, it must be designed to have alternate energy resources and should be developed with recycled or green materials (Nicol 2012, p.29). For this reason, sustainable architecture attempts to lessen the adverse environmental effects on a building by promoting moderation and efficiency in the utilization of development space, energy, and materials (Heymann and Barrera eds. 2013, p.39). More importantly, the concept of ecological design or sustainability is intended to ensure that modern methods do not limit the prospects for future generations.

nMost of the houses in the UK lack features that promote sustainability in the future. Conventionally, building placement pays no attention to the importance of sustainable architecture (Buch-Hansen 2017, p.223). However, the majority may envision the perfect environmental office or home structure as a secluded area in the forest. Firstly, such houses raise the consumption of energy needed for transportation and contribute to unwarranted auto-emissions. They also promote suburban sprawl, which has negative impacts on the environment. The majority of jurisdictions lack sustainable design that can assist to establish a sustainable method of living within a society (Charlesworth and Ahmed 2015, p.71). Therefore, it becomes a source of stress causing stress-linked health conditions.

nSustainable houses must have three essential components, which include environmental sustainability, universal design or social sustainability, and economic sustainability. Environmental sustainability ensures that the design of the UKs home is in such a way that it minimizes emissions of greenhouse gas, save energy and water, and lowers waste generation in the process of construction and the homes lifespan (Nicol 2012, p.15). Secondly, social sustainability ensures that the construction of the house is planned to control cases of injuries via built-in welfare protection. Additionally, it must possess security components to minimize crime and enhance the occupants feelings of security (Buch-Hansen 2017, p.224). The security features are also utilized to offer comfort and flexibility for persons of different abilities and at varying life stages such as people and children with restricted mobility. Furthermore, the houses architecture must have economic sustainability hence it must be structured to save resources such as money during the construction process and over the lifespan of the home. In this respect, the design must guarantee careful planning to evade the need for significant renovations in the future (Heymann and Barrera eds. 2013, p.69). Similarly, economic sustainability also assists in the reduction of costs linked to maintenance, water, and energy use.
