nGoogle is a multinational company that deals with internet-related products and services. These include software services and products, cloud search computing, and online advertising products. Sergey Brin and Page Larry founded the firm when they worked as research project at Stanford California in 1995. Google was a private-owned firm until 2004 when it initial public offering took place (Jurevicius, 2015, p. 1). The mission statement of the firm is “to organize the information in the world and ensure that it is globally useful and accessible.” Its headquarters are in Mountain View, California.
nSince its inception, it has provided a variety of products and services that include online software, office suite and social networking services. Products designed for desktop use include applications for editing photos, web search and instant messaging. In addition, the firm is the leading organization in production of android (smartphone) mobile phone operating system (Google, inc,. 2015). It also makes Chrome OS that is a browser-only product for chrome book. The firm generates its biggest percentage of profits from advertising via Ad Words that appears near the search results.
nIn 2007, reports indicated that it wanted to produce its own smartphone. It first produced Android, which is an operating system for mobile devices. However, it produced Nexus 1 as its own android phone in 2010. Reports indicated that Google is the leading shareholder in global smartphone production as of March 2013 (Jurevicius, 2015, p. 1).
nGoogle mission statement is oriented towards the customers hence it concentrates on the needs of the customers rather than certain services or products. Google has also an unofficial mission: “Dont Be Evil.” The unofficial mission statement was included in the Initial Public offering (IPO) supported by clear explanations (Farfan, 2015, p. 1). The unofficial mission suggests that the belief of the firm is to serve the customer better by shareholders and in all means by doing good things in the long term at the expense of short-term gains (Google, inc,. 2015). In addition, the firm focuses on doing its best to satisfy the customers needs and building a good corporate image.
nMoreover, the firm also established a document that explains the corporate beliefs. These beliefs are things that the firm knows to be true and the founder and employees of Google embrace them. First, they believe that by concentrating on the user, any other objectives will be achieved. Therefore, the firm focuses on providing best experience to the users. It also believes in doing one thing very well (Jurevicius, 2015, p. 1). The third belief is that doing things faster is more important than slower. Since users have limited time, it aims in giving an instant answer in a pleasant way.
nMoreover, the firm understands that democracy is the best policy in web. Therefore, Google search is efficient since it depends on many people posting website links to assist in determining the sites that offer value of content (Farfan, 2015, p. 1). Besides, since people are increasingly mobile, they need to access knowledge everywhere they are and not at their desk. In addition, it believes that there is a lot of information in peoples mind, which facilitated it to create HTML pages that increase accessibility. Besides, it focuses on delivering information across the entire world and in every language. It also accepts the challenges that a person faces when carrying out duties (Farfan, 2015, p. 1). Lastly, it is the firms belief that “great just is not good enough,” thus, being successful is the starting point and not the end.
