May 23, 2020For this assignment, you will play the role of the dean of a local community college in Anytown, Texas. The individuals in the college are highly collaborative, but not as innovative or forward-thinking as you would like. The culture of the university is student oriented, and staff, faculty, and administrators work well together. The growth of the community college has been slow, so the board has approved the hiring of an associate dean, whose main responsibility will be to cultivate the college by enhancing the culture, yet bringing vitality to the college. You are concerned that the culture may change with the added vitality and growth, but you know the college will not thrive without the changes. You also realize that the individuals in this current collaborative culture may be resistant to new leadership and the changes that come with new leadership insights. You have been asked to create the job description and interview questions for this newly created role of associate dean. In addition, you will address the entire community college (staff, faculty, and students). In your presentation, include the following: • Develop a full job description for the associate dean. o Explain the need for this new position. o Determine specific roles that the associate dean will have. o Consider whether to recruit internally, externally, or both. Then explain your rationale. o Decide whether to enlist feedback and from what groups. Then, justify your decision to your audience. • Please use Power Point slides, remember to add speaker notes (or narrative) to support the slides • Determine which individuals to include on the interview committee. • Address, upfront, the possible concerns of your audience. • Create at least 10 interview questions, and then justify their use to your audience. References: Minimum of five scholarly resources. Your presentation should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts presented in the course by providing new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic.
